Shortly, Spotify may feature a considerably larger variety of video podcasts. It first introduced the video podcast format for chosen originals in July of last year, but it is now making the format available to more people who wish to start their own. Creators may now use Anchor, Spotify’s podcast creation tool, to apply to have their video podcasts broadcast on the streaming platform.
According to the company, video podcasts will be released on a rolling basis with preference to several leading creators, including established podcasters who are branching out into video and video makers who want to reach a new audience. It is, however, placing approved candidates in a queue and providing them the ability to make their videos public on the platform at a later date. Those who are approved can post episodes via their Anchor account, which will be instantly broadcast on Spotify.
Unlike some, not all video creators will sign $100 million deals with Spotify, and the company is providing a method for them to generate money from their shows. Creators in some regions will be able to commercialize their podcasts through subscriptions, allowing them to share special content with subscribers or limit access to their broadcasts to paying consumers exclusively.
