Twitter’s revamped Spaces tab is now available. Twitter Blue users on iOS may now test out the new UI element via the subscription’s early access Labs feature, which just launched. The tab combines live and recorded Spaces, as well as a selection of popular podcasts that may be listened to straight from the app.
In March, developer Jane Manchun Wong discovered references to the tab in Twitter’s code, indicating that the company was working on adding podcasts. After a few months, the business began testing the interface change on Android and iOS with a limited group of English-speaking users. The tab’s current iteration has separate categories for current and prospective Spaces, as well as a Stations section that categorizes podcasts and Spaces by subject.
It’s by design that Twitter’s UI doesn’t appear to be perfect for discovering a certain podcast or episode. The tab will not take the place of specialist apps such as Pocket Casts. However, it may assist you in discovering something new to listen to, and if you check out a Space or two in the process, then the tab has served its purpose.
