LinkedIn is the latest site to jump on the generative AI bandwagon. As it explores new ways to incorporate AI into its platform, the business is adding AI-powered “writing suggestions” and job descriptions to its service.

The writing recommendations are intended to make it easier to fill out crucial profile categories that LinkedIn claims might be “daunting” to complete: the “about” and “headline” sections towards the top of each profile. LinkedIn Premium customers may now develop descriptions based on their experience using the new “enhance” function.

The tool, which utilizes the same OpenAI models as ChatGPT, is intended to keep “your unique voice and style” and will draw on your employment experience and talents, as well as LinkedIn’s own “insights” into what makes a successful profile, according to the business. The programme created a first-person narrative of an individual’s professional history that looks nearly like the beginning of a cover letter in an example of a finished “about” section given by LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is also testing AI-written job descriptions. Hiring managers will just need to fill out the job title, firm name, and a few other basic data in certain circumstances, and LinkedIn will generate a detailed draft of a suitable job description.

It is worth noting that the business is pitching its AI writing features as a starting point rather than a finished product. LinkedIn recommends that users verify and amend the AI-generated text in both scenarios to ensure accuracy. Yet, the business claims that both might be a significant time saver for individuals looking to outsource some of the more time-consuming writing responsibilities connected with LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s writing tools aren’t the company’s first venture into generative AI. In addition, the business recently launched “collaborative articles,” which rely on a combination of AI-written material and inputs from individual LinkedIn “experts.” In addition, the business is launching additional online courses on generative AI-related themes.
