Instagram Threads has been a great success as the app reached 100 million users within 5 days of its launch. The news that is trending now about Threads is how it was able to surpass the weekly active user base of Twitter. About one-fifth of Twitter’s global weekly active user base has already been captured by the app within this short span of time.
Initial research regarding the Threads app have reported a slight decline in the app’s usage, but new data indicates that Threads is gaining popularity. The app Threads has now achieved downloads above 150 million. The app intelligence firm data.ai is now revealing interesting details about Threads’ user base. The availability of the app in the first week was partial. The Twitter rival was able to attract almost 93 million active users globally. 33% of global installations were from India, 22% from Brazil, 16% from the US, and 8% and 5% respectively from Mexico and Japan. The Threads app is now unavailable in the European Union because of some obstacles related to privacy concerns.
Threads also has now announced its very first major update i.e., it has introduced support for iOS 17, now available as a public beta. The app requires further improvements like a following feed, an edit button, multi-account support, integration with ActivityPub, etc. As the platform continues to evolve and new features will be added, its user base is more likely to grow further.
