Threads Finally Comes With a Web Version

Threads’ long-awaited web version is now here. Meta’s deployment is now starting, after the company said that its Twitter competitor will be available through browsers. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri stated on Thursday that the update is now available to all users.

That implies you should check again if you’ve been eagerly refreshing threads.net waiting for it to be accessible. Many Threads users have been irritated by the absence of a web version up to this point. People have been unable to look at their feeds, post, comment, or even log in to their accounts from browsers, despite the ability to connect an account to a single user’s profile.

Given the app’s dramatic drop-off in engagement following its initial arrival, many have considered the lack of a web version as a serious obstacle to the app. Mark Zuckerberg and Mosseri have both stated that an online version of Threads is high on their priority list, while Mosseri recently stated that the team was still working out a few bugs with the experience.

It will be fascinating to see which of the many “missing” features Threads will acquire next now that the web-based version is fully available. Users have also expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of content search — at the moment, users can only search for other users, not individual posts — and hashtags, both of which help people find new content on Instagram and Twitter. The inclusion of DMs, on the other hand, is doubtful. Mosseri has stated that he is hesitant to introduce another inbox to the lives of Threads users, but he has lately raised the prospect of adding Instagram direct messages into the Threads experience. However, he did clarify that post-editing options are being developed, so Threads users won’t have to wait more than a decade for an edit button.
