
Apple has confirmed that iOS 17 will be officially available as a free software update for the newly launched iPhone 15 series, including the older models, on Monday, September 18.
With the launch, there comes a wide range of improvements to the iPhone. This includes upgrades across the FaceTime, Messages and Phone apps, new AirDrop capabilities, StandBy, and many more. iOS 17 introduces a feature named ‘Contact Posters. This feature allows users to select photos or Memoji, as well as eye-catching typography and font colors which will appear on the iPhone of whoever they call. Live Voicemail is yet another new feature in the Phone app. There is also a revamped Messages app; and Name Drop — a new way to share contacts by bringing phones close together.
StandBy provides users with a new way to view glanceable information when the iPhone is set down and charging. Health app upgrades, offline maps, AirTag which can be shared with up to five other people, allowing friends and family to keep track of an item in Find My, Apple Music introducing Collaborative Playlists, etc. are some other new features.
