Google is determined to make email writing as simple as possible. After integrating GeminiAI into Gmail, the company has been updating the platform with handy AI tools.
The latest AI innovation comes as an upgrade to the “Help me write” feature. The new tool called “Polish” joins the Formalize, Elaborate, and Shorten options. With Polish, Google aims to make writing emails faster than ever before.
“Building upon our popular Help me write feature in Gmail and the recent launch of the summarization feature in the Gmail mobile app, we’re excited to introduce two new Gemini in Gmail updates to help you draft emails even faster,” Google announced in a blog post.
Users simply have to enter their rough notes into a draft and the tool can use it to whip up a professional email.
When you open a new email draft on a mobile device, the “Help me write” shortcut shows up in the email body. By choosing this shortcut, you can access the entire Help me write menu. The “Refine my draft” shortcut will appear underneath the email text if your draft is longer than 12 words. You can choose to Polish, Formalize, Elaborate, or Shorten by swiping your thumb across the text, or you can ask Gemini to compose an entirely new draft for you.
Another related update is that the Help me write feature with the Refine option was only accessible on the web, but it is now being extended to iOS and Android platforms along with an exclusive shortcut button.
It should be noted that the tool will not be accessible to all users right away. Those who have paid for a Google One AI Premium account, the Google Workspace users with Gemini Business and Enterprise add-on, or the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on will be the only ones initially allowed access to the new AI capabilities.
