Instagram has unveiled an exciting new feature designed to enhance profile customization: the “Profile Song.” This feature allows users to add a song to their profile that reflects their mood or personal preferences. With a wide selection of licensed tracks available, users can choose the perfect song to express themselves. For the launch of this feature, Instagram has partnered with US-based singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram’s official account announced the new Profile Song feature. This addition will appear below the user’s bio and allows for a 30-second playback of the selected track when tapped. Instagram has specified that the audio will not autoplay; users must click the music icon to listen.
The social media platform is collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter for the rollout of the Profile Song feature. To celebrate the launch, the list of tracks will feature a short teaser of her song “Taste” from her upcoming album. This exclusive preview will give users a taste of her latest work while showcasing the new user profile customization option.
According to Instagram, the song will remain on a user’s profile until they choose to update it. This new Profile Song feature is accessible to all consumer and creator accounts. To set it up, go to the “Edit Profile” section from your profile tab and tap on “Add Music to Your Profile.” You can either search for a favorite track or explore the “For You” section to find new music. After selecting your preferred song, you can choose a 30-second clip to feature on your profile. This new feature adds to a series of recent media updates from Instagram. It was in July that the platform introduced a multi-audio tracks feature, allowing users to incorporate up to 20 different tracks into a single Instagram Reel.
