Google is making an AI video maker available to select Google Workspace users.

Google Vids, the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) video creation tool, can help users with many aspects of the video and presentation-making process. According to Google, Vids enables users to use Gemini’s functions to swiftly create the initial draft of a video or presentation. It has a “Help me create” tool that generates an editable storyboard with stock media, text, scripts, and background music. The user only needs to enter a prompt, upload a source document from Google Drive, and select a style.

Users can also further modify their videos using animations, transitions, visual effects, and royalty-free stock footage.

It also has a virtual recording studio where you can upload your own images and videos, record videos of yourself, or simply record audio tracks of your voice to go along with your video.

“We know that creating and editing video has felt challenging because in the past it has required special skills or licensing, but with Google Vids the power of storytelling is in your hands. Now teams can build and tell compelling stories at work, scaling and landing their message to engage coworkers in an effective way,” states Google in a recent blog.

It should be noted that Google Vids does not create videos from scratch like OpenAI’s Sora or Runway’s Gen-2. Rather, it can be viewed as a tool that assembles various video storyboard components based on the prompt. Users can then add the final touches. Because Google Vids is a component of Google Workspace, you can also work together with your teammates in real-time on a video project.

Google Vids will be available to users of Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Enterprise Essentials Plus. According to Google, users will have complete access to AI-powered features in Google Vids, such as “Help me create” and AI voiceovers until “at least December 31, 2025.” These AI-powered services might come with usage restrictions starting in 2026.
