Freevee, the ad-supported free streaming service by Apple, now has a dedicated Apple TV app that you can download from the App Store for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. The service was previously available on Apple TV within the Prime Video app and was formerly known as IMBd TV, but now has its own application for Apple.
Freevee offers access to several Amazon Studios shows, including the recently released crime drama “Bosch: Legacy” and the buddy-cop drama “Pretty Hard Cases”. It also offers other free movies and TV shows like “Deal or No Deal”, “Bewitched”, “Shark Tale”, and “Logan”. It also comes with 75 free, ad-supported television (FAST) streaming channels. Earlier this month, Amazon had announced a short-term film licensing agreement with Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution for a limited selection of 20th Century Studios titles, including “Deadpool”, “Deadpool 2”, “Logan”, “Hidden Figures”, “Murder on the Orient Express”, and “The Post”.
Amazon has also announced that it is beta testing virtual product placement in original shows as an improved advertising method. This will enable more streaming services to compete with ad-supported tiers. As opposed to traditional product placement in videos, the respective product will be added in post-production.
The Amazon Freevee app is also available on Apple’s iPhone and iPad, Android mobile devices, as well Roku, Samsung smart TVs, LG Smart TVs, Comcast’s Xfinity Flex, Xfinity X1, Chromecast with Google TV, XBOX One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. Apart from third-party devices, it is also available as an application on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and a free Channel within the Prime Video app across hundreds of devices.
