We’d tell you to hurry as your chances for a spec check are kind of running out for the beta program of Android 12. Yep, the official debut will be rolling out soon, and yes, we’ll keep you posted. This release by Google is a fifth and the final beta for Pixel phones, the 5a included, and the usual of the several third-party devices, urging you to do one more dance with it before the final version launches. Talk about excitement…uh no. Well, this Beta 5 is a release candidate build that runs with the same old story of the usual last-minute fixes and performance improvements. We don’t think there’s much love (changes) for you with this version to that of beta 4 or even beta 3 – there, there, we don’t want you to be disheartened.
Google said that the finalized software version will be due in the coming weeks (we’re expecting some false alarms). And with it comes the usual, historically boring fact that Android 12 will be first available to Pixel owners only (should have been one). You can get your hands on it after months of waiting when third parties deploy their releases after customizing it.
Although, we got to say the dramatic change in Android 12 is pretty much The Material You design scheme. There’s more – an overall pep up in the interface, more fluid animations, and color themes that adapt to your wallpaper. Privacy features have also bumped up with a dedicated Privacy Dashboard along with toggles and in-use indicators for cameras and microphones.
And to wrap things up we saw some keen changes under the hood, such as camera-based autorotation and an on-device search engine, which helps you find content within your apps. In some ways, this is not a huge jump, but it could help rejuvenate the Android experience if you felt that earlier releases were somewhat uninspiring.
