As per the reports from Bloomberg, Apple is now developing AI offers to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. The iPhone maker is trying to expand its artificial intelligence capabilities as the AI market is seen to improve every day. Hence Apple is now attempting to present some of its AI capabilities to compete in the rapidly growing AI market. This boosted Apple’s shares by 2%.
For this, Apple built a framework on its own known as “Ajax” for creating large language models (LLMs). Moreover, Apple is now in the testing stage of a chatbot that some engineers referred to as “Apple GPT”. Through this, Apple is trying to explore the potential of language-based technologies. Apple has hesitated from making big moves in AI and didn’t even mention the word in its developer conference held in June. Apple had indirectly tried to incorporate advanced AI in some of its products, for example, Apple Photos. Siri, Apple’s core AI product is staying almost stagnated over the years. There are several teams involved in the latest endeavor, under the guidance of John Giannandrea and Craig Federighi.
This new virtual assistant helps in summarizing text and answering questions based on data with which it has been trained. As per the reports, it can be used internally for product prototyping. The report also makes it clear that Apple does not have a real plan for the tools it is developing. Let’s hope for significant AI-related announcements next year.
