Elon Musk Is Rebranding Twitter As 'X' and Retiring The Iconic Blue Bird Logo

Twitter appears to be undergoing a rebranding by Elon Musk. Musk said in a series of late-night tweets Saturday that the company’s famed bird logo and moniker will be retiring soon. It appears that the corporation will simply be known as “X.”

“And soon, we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” he tweeted. He later stated in a Twitter post that the Twitter logo would change on Sunday. “It should have been done a long time ago, I’m sorry it took so long,” he admitted.

Later that night, he allegedly informed employees of the change through email. According to a reliable source, Musk contacted colleagues claiming that the company will become X and that his missive “was the last email he’ll ever send from a Twitter email address.”

Musk has long been known to embrace the “X” branding. His 1999 banking business, x.com, was named after him, as was his newly announced AI endeavor, xAI. In April, Twitter’s parent company changed its name to X Corp. Musk has also stated that X will assist Twitter in becoming an “everything app.”

Nonetheless, Musk may be taking a risk by officially leaving the Twitter brand. Already, the company is suffering an advertiser exodus, which has resulted in a loss of more than half of its ad income. A rebranding could turn off even more advertising. Simultaneously, Musk may be banking that a new brand and identity would help the company lose its links to its old leadership and the decisions taken under them, both of which he has been harshly critical of.
