It might be difficult to split a restaurant bill or divide the expenses of a group trip. All Facebook Messenger users will now be able to use Meta’s Split Payments feature, which aims to make things easier. The tool, which was previously in beta, will most likely come in handy when splitting a bill with two or more people.

If you or your friends are using Facebook Payments in Messenger for the first time, the feature will prompt you for payment information (either a debit or credit card or Paypal).

This is how it goes. To begin, create a group chat on Messenger with all of the payers. Then tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen, or tap the group’s name and then “Split Payments.” A prompt titled “Get Started” will appear.

You can then choose whether you wish to share funds evenly among everyone in the group or exclude some people (including yourself). After that, you’ll be prompted to input the total amount of the bill or payment. The cost is then distributed evenly across the number of persons you specified by the feature. You can also manually input a different amount if one or more people owe significantly more.

Meta’s bill-splitting feature is undoubtedly another method to keep up with payment apps such as Venmo, Block (previously known as Square), and Splitwise. However, because many people currently use Messenger to coordinate group events or relay group conversations, a messaging app may have an edge here.
