Users have filed a complaint against Alphabet’s Google for unlawfully tracking their internet activity under incognito mode.

According to a California Federal Judge, this matter might take up to two hours to interrogate Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Users filed a complaint against Google in 2020 for illegally recording their internet activity while in private mode.

Plaintiffs contend that Pichai possesses ‘unique, personal knowledge’ of problems concerning privacy and browsing concerns.

“While we strongly dispute the claims, in this case, we have cooperated with plaintiffs’ countless requests … We will continue to vigorously defend ourselves,” said José Castaeda, a spokesperson for Google.

Furthermore, in 2019, Pichai was told that referring to incognito mode as ‘private’ was incorrect.

According to a September filing, the problem remained unresolved because he did not want it to be in the public eye.

A US Magistrate stated that “A few documents establish that specific relevant information was communicated to, and possibly from, Pichai.”

Google, on the other hand, has previously said that incognito simply prevents data from being stored on a user’s device. Google is still contesting the lawsuit as of now.
