Google has announced a new AI-powered assistant to help YouTube users quickly regain access to their accounts if they’ve been hacked. The advanced recovery tool is already available to some users, making account recovery faster and more efficient.
To sign in to YouTube, you need your Google account email and password, which also grants access to services like Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Maps. Since Google accounts hold significant personal and confidential information, they are prime targets for cybercriminals. A hacked YouTube account, especially one with a substantial following, can be exploited for malware distribution, phishing, and scams. Recovering a hacked Google account has been challenging in the past, but Google’s new AI bot aims to streamline the process, particularly for YouTube channel reclamation.
It was in the August 21 YouTube support posting that TeamYouTube announced a new AI-powered troubleshooting tool for users locked out of potentially hacked accounts. Initially available only to English-speaking users accessing the YouTube Help Center, some troubleshooting features are restricted to specific creators. Eligible users will find a “Chat with our hacked channel assistant” option on the help page. Google plans to expand availability to all users in the future.
The tool will guide users through questions about their account and channel to secure their Google login and reverse any changes made by the hacker. Before using the new channel-hacking helper, Google warns that the AI is still learning and might provide inaccurate or offensive results. Users must agree to Google’s Terms of Service and Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. Additionally, human reviewers may read and analyze your conversations, so avoid sharing any sensitive information during the chat.
Before using the new helper bot, Google advises checking for signs of a hacked YouTube channel. Look for changes you didn’t make, such as altered profile pictures, descriptions, email settings, or AdSense associations. Also, check for uploaded videos that aren’t yours, as these could lead to email notifications about penalties or strikes for inappropriate content. The hacked channel assistant will assist in recovering and securing your Google account, undoing any changes made to your YouTube channel, and minimizing the risk of future YouTube account compromises.
Stay one step ahead of hackers and secure your YouTube channel with Google’s new AI assistant.
