Instagram is bringing out the ability to create and donate to fundraisers via Reels. Users in over 30 countries may now include a link to more than 1.5 million NGOs, allowing people to give online. For the past few years, the fundraising feature has been available in Stories and on livestreams.
The feature was revealed as part of Meta’s Earth Day celebrations. According to Meta, over 4 million individuals have contributed over $150 million to environmental conservation and NGOs battling climate change via Instagram and Facebook. The Ocean Cleanup, World Wildlife Fund, and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are the three most popular environmental charities in terms of overall donation numbers.
Last year, the majority of donations made on Instagram were under $20. Meta pays the payment processing expenses for charitable fundraisers, ensuring that every penny donated gets to nonprofits.
