Lenovo is no stranger to gaming phones, and it looks like the Lenovo Legion Phone Y90 is determined to survive the category’s all-out specifications battle. According to a credible source, Lenovo has provided preliminary information on the Legion Phone Y90, its third-generation gaming mobile, and storage looks to be the company’s edge. While the ‘basic’ versions have 256GB of standard UFS 3.1 flash storage (combined with 12GB or 16GB of RAM), the highest-end 18GB RAM model has a RAID 0 storage stripe that combines a 128GB SSD with 512GB of flash, similar to Xiaomi’s Black Shark 4 phones. Your games will load quickly.
The 6.9-inch 1080p AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate (although with high 1,300-nit brightness) will be familiar to second-generation Legion users, and the existence of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU will come as no surprise. However, Lenovo has dropped the 44MP pop-up selfie camera in favor of an above-screen 16MP device. Dual fans and vapor chamber cooling remain, and charging will be a breeze thanks to the 5,600mAh two-battery power pack, two USB-C connections, and an integrated 68W GaN fast charger.
There’s no word on a release date or pricing, however, such details might be revealed during Lenovo’s Mobile World Congress press presentation on February 28th. The Legion Phone Y90 looks to be targeted for mainland China at the moment, but it wouldn’t be shocking if the gadget makes its way to other regions (possibly with a different name). Just don’t expect it in the United States – Lenovo hasn’t officially released any gaming phones in the nation, and there’s no hint that the firm would go from habit this time.
