Journal, the AI-powered notetaking app of Microsoft has become a full-fledged Microsoft Windows application as reported by TechCrunch.
Originally launched in February 2021 as a Microsoft Garage project as a notetaking app designed for styluses and pens. Powered by AI, it super-powers everyday writing with digital ink and delivers connected experiences, and keeps you in flow by allowing gestures.
It is now getting out of Microsoft Garage, Microsoft’s official outlet for experimental projects. It is no longer an experimental project. The full-blown and fully-supported app is now called Microsoft Journal. Users of Windows tablets, 2-in-1s, and other pen-capable devices will now be able to capture their thoughts and create drawings using their AI-empowered digital pen.
It was originally released as an alternative writing option for pen and app lovers. Instead of grabbing a pen and paper when inspiration strikes, they can now let their ideas flow through with this ink-focused application.
The makers of Journal have pushed the concept forward by blending the digital ink input with AI technologies. It has the ability to automatically detect what users are intending to write, for example, headings, starred items, keywords, and even drawings. It gives cues to users and prompts actions like ‘move’, ‘copy’, etc. It also features included drag-and-drop support for moving content to other pages or different applications. It helps you markup PDFs and helps in keyword search with filters. It works on both Windows 10 and 11 devices and is well-integrated with Microsoft 365 for jotting down meeting notes.
The new Microsoft Journal app now flaunts Windows 11 look and feel, with new colors and tools. As per the team, they are focusing on addressing user feedback and a backlog of new features. Users can download it directly from the Microsoft Store.
