And it’s a wrap for Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022!
As expected, the company has announced two foldable phones, an update to its Galaxy Buds Pro line, and new smartwatches. Keep reading to find out more about the major announcements from the event.
Galaxy Z Flip 4
Like its predecessor Z Flip 3, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a flip phone that is set at a starting price of $999. But it comes with several new updates, like the option to view selfie previews on the cover screen that will be in the same aspect ratio as the image itself. Samsung has slimmed down the hinges and bezels of the Z Flip 4 and added Gorilla Glass Victus+ which is more durable than the previous model. It comes in four colors – graphite, bora purple, pink gold, and blue. You can preorder it ahead of its availability on August 26th.
Galaxy Z Fold 4
This is the biggest and the most expensive device in the Galaxy Unpacked lineup and comes at the same price point as the previous model, $1800. Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with a gargantuan 7.6-inch foldable display on the inside and an outer display that lets you use it like a regular smartphone with the shell closed. The device also includes numerous software changes like an app taskbar on the bottom of the inner display which lets you multitask by dragging up to three different apps from the taskbar to the rest of the screen. There is also a new feature called ‘app pair’ that lets you link apps, so they always open together.
Galaxy Watch 5 Smartwatches
Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro have bigger batteries and offer better battery life. The new smartwatches are supposed to be 60 percent stronger against scratches thanks to the new surface glass. They are also equipped with a body temperature sensor. These smartwatches are available to preorder now and will begin shipping on August 26th. Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $280 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro starts at $450.
Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro come with a new design that’s 15 percent smaller than the original pair. However, they retain their predecessor’s egg-shaped body for the earbuds with a silicone tip that goes straight into the ear canal like before. They also support 24-bit hi-fi audio over Bluetooth. But those updates come at a higher price — the buds cost $229.99, a $30 premium from the original Galaxy Buds Pro. They come in three colors: white, graphite, and bora purple. You can preorder them now ahead of their release on August 26th.
Samsung’s sustainability measures
Samsung also remarked on how it integrates recycled materials into the designs of the products that were announced at the event. Some examples include repurposing fishing nets in the materials used to make the Z-series foldables and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Samsung now uses recycled fishing nets in 11 of its devices.
