DJI Osmo Action 2 is the new robust camera that not only removes the Osmo moniker but also adopts a fresh new design, more than two years after launching the Osmo Action. The has a 155-degree field of view lens and a 12-megapixel sensor that can take 4K film at up to 120 frames per second and 1080p slow-motion video at 240 frames per second. Yeah, we know it’s not even close to what GoPro’s newest top-end model, the Hero 10 Black 2021 delivers at 5.3K at 60 frames per second and 240 frames per second at 2.7K. But there has to be something about Action 2, right? So, what is it about the DJI Osmo Action 2 that makes it interesting? It is undoubtedly the form factor.
It weighs little under two ounces and incorporates a magnetic attachment system that may be used to increase the camera’s functionality. Similar concepts have been executed by brands such as Insta360, but DJI’s implementation appears to be incredibly handy. Want to turn the Action 2 into a vlogging camera by adding a front-facing display? You may do so with a touchscreen module that adds a secondary OLED display and three more microphones to the camera, as well as the ability to record up to 160 minutes of footage without an early run-out. An optional battery kit increases the battery life of the Action 2 from 70 minutes to three hours and adds an extra microSD slot. Other accessories include mounting the camera to a floating handle, a 3-in-1 extension rod, and a lanyard, among others.
Other useful features include a dedicated sensor that can assist the camera in producing accurate color tones in low-light situations and underwater. Holding down the power button activates a function called SnapShot, which lets you switch on the device and begin filming straight away. It also has all of DJI’s standard camera functions, such as the ability to function as a web camera and create time-lapses.The DJI Action 2 is now available for purchase on . The camera is not being sold by the company on its own. Instead, you may get it as part of a $399 or $519 bundle. The former includes the battery module stated above, while the latter includes the touchscreen attachment. Both packs include a variety of mounts.
