Several users have seen a Doge icon in place of Twitter’s iconic bird logo.
It’s difficult to explain how the Doge icon appearing on the loading screen and in the upper left corner of the web UI could be a bug unless it’s merely an April Fools’ prank that arrived two days late. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has been a vocal supporter of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency and has occasionally allowed users to purchase Tesla merchandise using the memecoin. And obviously, the value of Doge has increased since the dog took over Twitter, rising from less than 8 cents to over 9 cents.
Yet, the Doge makeover appears to be limited to Twitter’s web UI and not its apps.
Musk, SpaceX, and Tesla are presently being sued by investors who claim he is “engaged in a Crypto Pyramid Scheme (aka Ponzi scheme) by way of Dogecoin cryptocurrency,” citing his tweets as evidence. According to a credible source, he has lately filed a motion to dismiss the case. Musk reposted a meme about the Doge switch that one of his followers tweeted as a play on one of Musk’s tweets from a day before this scenario.
