Looks like WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has fully committed to AI. After integrating Meta AI into the search bar, the company is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to create AI-generated images on the fly.
The image generation feature’s shortcut on the instant messaging platform appeared in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.12.4, as per a report by WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp update tracker. According to reports, users can quickly create AI-powered images on the app by utilizing Meta AI.
Meta AI is WhatsApp’s intelligent chatbot that can follow directions, visualize concepts, and solve intricate problems. It is also capable of generating images; however, these are only available through text prompts when the AI chatbot is tagged with “@Meta AI” in group chats. It is speculated that with this rumored feature, people who regularly communicate via AI images could be able to generate images quickly.
WhatsApp will reportedly add an “imagine” shortcut in the attachments options, through which you will be connected to Meta AI’s image generator.
The report also suggests that users who already have Meta AI may be the only ones able to access the feature. At the moment, the chatbot is only accessible in a few countries, such as the US, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and more.
Additionally, an AI-powered Profile Photos feature is also being tested by WhatsApp users, enabling them to create AI-generated profile pictures. Users must fill out a prompt on a new page called Create AI Profile Picture with the description of the image they want to create. WhatsApp then generates a customized image that matches the given description. This feature was found in Version 2.24.11.17 of the WhatsApp app for Android.
