WhatsApp keeps getting new upgrades and this latest one seems particularly exciting.

Following a recent update that Whatsapp will roll out a feature that lets users send voice notes to Meta AI, the meta-owned instant messaging service has reportedly released a new feature for the beta version that enables users to have verbal, hands-free conversations with Meta AI.

This was revealed by WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker. Meta AI’s voice mode functionality was discovered in the 2.24.17.16 Android WhatsApp beta and The same feature was also found in the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.16.10.70.

According to WABetaInfo’s screenshots, the text box in the Meta AI conversation has a new voice icon next to it, which is an audio waveform. When you tap on it, a bottom sheet that reads Meta AI pops open. The words “Hello, how can I help” are visible at the bottom, accompanied by an extended audio waveform icon that suggests the AI is listening.

It’s also interesting to note that customers can select the voice in which they want to hear from Meta AI. The AI assistant has ten unique voices from which users can choose, offering a variety of options to fit personal preferences.

“The ability to choose a different voice can make interactions with Meta AI feel more personalized and engaging in the future. For example, users might prefer a soothing and calm voice for relaxing conversations or a more energetic tone when seeking motivation or quick responses. Additionally, we believe that the variety of voices could cater to different accents and speech patterns, making the AI more relatable to users from diverse linguistic backgrounds,” states WABetaInfo in their post.

By making some voices easier to understand for people with hearing impairments, this function can make Meta AI more accessible. Multiple speech options can bring a new level of customization to the user experience by humanizing the AI to some extent.
