WhatsApp is reportedly working to enhance Meta AI’s photo interaction abilities. This means that the AI chatbot will soon be able to reply to photos and make edits to them based on text prompts.

The new Meta AI photo editing feature was discovered by WABetaInfo on the Android 2.24.14.20 WhatsApp beta, and it will probably soon be accessible in the stable version as well. The messaging app is in the process of integrating a camera button – similar to the one on standard chats – into the Meta AI chatbot so that users can share photos with the chatbot. With this new feature, users will be able to ask AI to recognize objects or locations or to explain the context of a photo.

“WhatsApp is working on an optional feature to generate images of themselves using Meta AI. This will allow users to create AI-generated images by taking a single set of setup photos in the future, which Meta AI will analyze to produce accurate representations of their appearance. With the recent updates, it appears that WhatsApp is now exploring other important enhancements for Meta AI, such as enabling it to interact with images manually shared by users,” WABetainfo shared in its post.

What degree of image editing Meta AI can perform on WhatsApp is still unknown, though. In contrast to the current AI-powered photo editing tools, Meta AI may be able to modify the image, eliminate and replace the background, and remove selected objects. Users can also delete shared images anytime.

Llama 3, which is the most recent and powerful large language generative AI model from the company, is the foundation for WhatsApp’s Meta AI. It has the ability to produce text, voice, and image responses in addition to comprehending text, voice, and image.

In addition to WhatsApp, platforms like Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook are among the ones that Meta has integrated its AI into. Users can use the chatbot on all of these platforms to generate an image for free or to receive instant responses.
